The Pin Oak Marine Terminal petroleum liquids storage terminal project is a project along the east bank of the Mississippi River in Mt. Airy, St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. The project includes storage of 10 million barrels of crude oil, refined products, and chemicals on a 431-acre site for receiving and shipping of petroleum liquids and chemicals by rail, pipeline, barge, ship, and truck to and from both domestic and export markets.

Massman’s scope of work includes the construction of a dock facility made up of five structures over the river. These structures are the electrical platform, firewater platform, dock house, dock, and the hose tower. Massman will also construct an elevated pipe rack which will span from the dock facility, over the batture, and across the levee and River Road where it will tie into the landside work being performed by other contractors.

All of the structures are founded on pipe piling, ranging from 12 to 36 inches in diameter. Each structure, except for the electrical platform, will have jacketed piling with the heaviest pile jacket weighing about 240,000 lbs. In order to moor ships and barges, Massman will drive 19 monopile dolpins. These monopiles range in size from 60 inch diameter x 170 feet long to 96 inch diameter x 210 feet long with variable wall thicknesses up to 2 ¼ inches. Nine of the monopile dolphins have jackets which will be welded to the pile after driving.
